The Funeral Service for Mary L. Boone, of
Albert Lea
will be held at
10:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at St. Theodore Catholic Church. Father James Berning and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate.
Interment will be in St. Theodore’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 on Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service,
Albert Lea
, and one hour before the service at the church.
Mary died at her home, surrounded by her loving family at
706 Madison Ave
,
Albert Lea
where she had
proudly lived for more than 51 years.
She died on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at the age of 78.
She was born on May 28, 1931, in
Chatfield
,
MN
, the daughter of John
and Allene (Moore) Burke.
She attended rural school and then Chatfield High.
Mary was a nanny for an area family, and moved with them to
Dallas
,
Texas
to care for the children.
She moved back to the area and settled in
Albert Lea
, which is where she meet her future husband.
She was united in marriage to George Richard Boone on December 15, 1951 in Chatfield. They began raising their family in the
Rochester
area and then settled in Albert Lea.
In 1958
George passed away and left Mary to raise her young family.
She worked many jobs including waitressing and working at the Emporium and Birds Eye in Waseca. She felt blessed when friend and companion Les Bethke came into her life.
For more than 36 years they special friends and shared their lives and many special times and memories.
Mary was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church were she had been active in the CCW.
She also volunteered for the American Red Cross when they had their blood drive.
She will be greatly missed by her four children: Kathleen (Lawrence) Anderson of Albert Lea, Michael Boone of Albert Lea, Vickie (Bruce) Spilde of Hartland, and Georgiann (Kenneth) Quinn of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Misty Spilde of Wells, MN, Paul Michael Anderson of Albert Lea, Mario Boone of Albert Lea, Caleb Quinn of Bloomington, Wade Spilde of Freeborn,
Erin Quinn-VandeKamp and her husband Josh of Stillwater,
Heath Spilde of Freeborn, Shane Spilde of Freeborn, Chianan Quinn of Albert Lea, Marissa Boone of Albert Lea and Makenzie Boone also of Albert Lea; great grandchildren Dylan and Brittany Jensen, with another blessed arrival on the way; sisters Margaret Burke of Chatfield,
and Therese Donnelly of Wells, several nieces and nephews. She had a special place in her heart for animals and will be affectionately missed by her pet family Maxwell Smart, Hunter and Tommy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George in 1958,
two brothers Paul Burke and one in infancy, granddaughter Christina Marie
Boone and friend and companion Les Bethke.
Mary was the center of our lives. She was the hostess, the caretaker, the fun loving
adventurer and the glue that held us together.
The cherished memories will live with us forever.
