MARVIN D. ZUELKE OBITUARY…..





The Memorial service for Marvin D. Zuelke of Albert Lea , MN will be held



At 3:00 PM Saturday, September 5, 2009 at First Lutheran Church , Albert Lea.



Pastor John Holt will officiate. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Albert Lea. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery .





Marvin died September 2, 2009 at ThorneCrest Retirement Center , Albert Lea , MN .



He was 88 years old.





Marvin was born in Emmons , MN on December 4, 1920, the son of Fred and Gertie (Tviete) Zuelke. He graduated from Emmons High School and has been a Freeborn Co. resident all of his life. Marvin served his country in the Philippines , in the Army Air Corp as a Military Medic. He was married to Donna Mae Bakken on June 20, 1943 at First Lutheran Church , Albert Lea. He was a senior driver for meals on wheels, member of Tri-Ed, Kiwanis Club, and very active in the Sons of Norway, serving as past president, president of the 1 st district and was on the International Board of Directors and the Flight Committee.





Marvin was a handyman with many on going projects. He enjoyed hunting, dancing and was a scoutmaster for many years. His family always came first with his kindness and gentleness. Marvin was a member of First Lutheran Church , having served on the church council and taught Sunday school. He worked as a foreman at Wilson & Co. along with farming.





Marvin is survived by his wife of 66 years, Donna Mae of Albert Lea, MN; sons: David (Susan) Zuelke of Chaska, MN, Daryl (Angele) Zuelke of Chaska, MN; grandchildren: Erin (Steven) Geske of Eden Prairie, MN, Laura (Travis) Root of New Auburn, MN, Sarah (Michael) Rydberg of Pine City, MN, Eric Zuelke of Minneapolis, MN, Bryan (Debby) Zuelke of Buffalo, MN, Daniel Zuelke of Chaska, MN; great grandchildren: Tyler, Clarissa and Lily Geske, Adeline Root, Jaxon, Wesley and Aurora Zuelke; sister: Derva Minear of Minneapolis, MN.





Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother in law, Mildred (Frank) Filenius; brother, Lars Zuelke; brother-in-law, Eugene Minear.





Memorials preferred to First Lutheran Church .
