Marvin was born in Wells, MN on April 22, 1924, the son of Gerald and Ida (Matz) Zimmerman. He attended rural school near Wells. He had lived in the Wells and Hollandale area but most of his life in Albert Lea.
Marvin was united in marriage with Darleen M. Budach. They were members of Salem Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Marvin had worked for 12 years for ALMCO and 20 years as a custodian for Albert Lea School Dist. #241.
Marvin was an outdoorsman, an exceptional vegetable gardener, and enjoyed fishing, and bird watching. He enjoyed country and old time polka music and he and Darleen attended many dances together. Due to declining health he could no longer continue with these activities. He had a great love and respect for the American flag and his country.
Marvin is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Darleen of Albert Lea; three adoring grandchildren: Bradley Peterson and Rodney Peterson both of Minneapolis, MN and Kimberly Peterson of Los Angeles, CA; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Karen Peterson in 1996; sister, Ruth Ann Zimmerman; three brothers: Claire, Nathan and Harold Zimmerman.
Marvin will be greatly missed by his family and friends and leaves a big void in their lives. Blessed be his memory.
