Funeral services for Marjorie Clara McGuire of New Richland, MN, will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, November 27, 2004 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in New Richland, MN. Pastors Paul Andree and Phil Lewison will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday, November 26, 2004 from 4 until 7 at the Friedrich Funeral Home in New Richland, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in St Olaf Cemetery.
Mrs. McGuire died Tuesday evening at the New Richland Care Center. She was 87 years of age.
Marjorie was born July 16, 1917 in Albert Lea, MN, the daughter of Joseph and Clara (Anderson) Simonson. She attended country school. On June 15, 1940 she was united in marriage to Murrel McGuire in Baudette, MN. Marjorie made her home in Albert Lea, Glenville, and since 1959 in New Richland, MN. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church for many years. Together with her husband, they owned and operated McGuire's CafAsh from 1959 until 1981.
Marjorie loved to play cards, cooking, shaking dice and travel. She also enjoyed fishing and camping. She was a blood donor having donated several gallons over the years.
Marjorie is survived by her children; Merlys and her husband Wayne Wenzel of New Richland, MN, Jerold and his wife Jean McGuire of Elgin, MN, Duane McGuire of New Richland, MN, Joyce Swenson of New Richland, MN, Brenda and her husband Gordon Ebnet of New Richland, MN, daughter in law Ranae McGuire of New Richland, MN. Grandchildren: Renae (Dave) Jeno, Wade (Denise) Wenzel, Tammy Wenzel, Troy Wenzel, Dan McGuire, Tim (Janet) McGuire, Jerelyn (Todd) Ness, Chris (Kim) McGuire, Prycilla, Amanda and Joe McGuire, Amy and Chad McGuire, Rosalind Swenson, Jocelyn Swenson, Misty (Marc) Westergren, and Shawn Ebnet.
There are 22 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren. One sister; Amelia Bakke of Albert Lea, MN, brothers Jay (Olive) Simonson of Austin, MN, Leo (Alice) Simonson of Clarks Grove, MN. Sister in law Katherine (Harold) Millner, brother in law Richard(Pat) McGuire. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Murrel, son Dennis, 2 grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, 2 sisters, 4 brothers, several sister in laws and brother in laws, nieces and nephews.
