A Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 7th, 2025 at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Albert Lea with Father Kurt Farrell officiating; visitation will take place an hour before the service. A private family burial will take place at Ft. Snelling at a later date.
Margaret M. (Billat) Solland, born on February 19,1940 to Joseph and Agnes Billat in Freeborn County, passed away with her family on January 18, 2025. Margaret graduated from Freeborn High School and dedicated 46 years of service to the Freeborn County Auditor & Treasurer’s Office.
In addition to her career, she had a passion for sewing and enjoyed working part-time in the fabric department of Walmart-Albert Lea for 18 years, where she shared her love for crafting with the community. Margaret married Orin Solland on February 20th, 1961, and they shared 55 wonderful years together until his passing in August of 2016. Together they raised 4 children: Lori, Mark, Angela, and Melissa.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Orin Solland; parents Joseph (Agnes) Billat; and brothers Leon, Luvern, and Norman Billat.
Margaret is survived by her children Lori (Rick) Champelovier, Mark (Mary) Solland, Angie (Douglas) Olson, and Melissa (Richard) Formisano; grandchildren, Nicole, Tenille, Cheri, Matthew, Martin, Joshua, Melanie, Maria, Steven, Marisa, Kristin, and Jonathan; great-grandchildren Dalen, Vivian, Andrea, and Adalyn; brother Mike (Patty) Billat; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Margaret’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and friends will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of dedication, compassion, and creativity will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
