Marcelino (Marce) Talamantes Sr. 85 of Albert Lea, MN passed away Tuesday May 2, 2023, at Thorne Crest Retirement Home surrounded by his family.
Marcelino was born to Eucebio and Hilaria Talamantes on January 28, 1938. The family moved around as migrant workers and finally settled in Albert Lea, MN
On April 11, 1956, Marcelino married Maria Magdalena (Mary Ellen) Mercado from Plainview, TX. Together they had six children. He spent many years working on the railroad but really enjoyed working with concrete. He had a great love of music since an early age. He played his music with his brothers and brother-in-law for a number of years and a multitude of lifelong friends. He even taught his sons to play musical instruments. The entire family at times would travel to different cities in MN, IA whenever he had a gig. The family enjoyed weekends together at Edgewater Park for softball and grilling out traveling to watch his sons and friends play in softball and soccer tournaments. He also had a love for dogs, there was always a dog or dogs running around with him. His children are his legacy, he leaves them with his love of music, dogs, softball, grilling and family time.
After divorcing Marcelino moved to Colorado and worked as a contractor and running a construction business with other family members. He then went on to marry Roxie Severson on July 28, 2008.
They lived in Colorado for years before moving to Alden, MN with their son and finally settled in Albert Lea, MN
Marcelino is survived by his children Fabian (Leann) Talamantes of Albert Lea: Daniel (Beth) Talamantes of Goodhue, MN, Mary (Kevin Freeman) Talamantes of Albert Lea, MN: Virginia (David) Keith of St. Ansgar, IA: Jacob Talamantes of Austin, MN, Marcelino III (Gabrielle) Talamantes of Albert Lea, MN: Daughter in Law Carol Talamantes widow of Marcelino Talamantes Jr., 6 brothers and 1 sister, 33 grand and step grandchildren, 61 great and great step grandchildren and 1 great -great grandchild, Many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eucebio & Hilaria Talamantes, his first wife Maria Magdalena (Mary Ellen) Talamantes, his 2nd wife Roxie Talamantes, son Marcelino Talamantes Jr., grand children Dakota Talamantes, Jacob Talamantes jr., great grandchild Maribelle Sokolofsky-Talamantes, brother Job Talamantes Sr. of Austin, MN, sister & brother-in-law Marta and Joe Garza from San Antonio, TX, sister and brother in law Lydia and Don Green, Lydia’s first Husband Paul Adams Sr. and step daughter Brenda Severtson. Many other family members.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
