Memorial services for Madeleine E. Lundstrom of Albert Lea, MN, will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at St. Theodore Catholic Church. Father James Berning, Deacon Mike Ellis and Pastor John Holt will officiate. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 4 PM until 7 PM at the Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in St. Theodore Catholic Cemetery.
Madeleine died Friday, September 17, 2010 at her home in Albert Lea following a well fought battle with cancer.
Madeleine was born July 12, 1938 in Fall River, MA, the daughter of Edgar E. and Alphonsine (Desrosiers) Hebert. She entered the convent at the age of 14 and was a catholic nun with the Sisters of St Joseph Order for 12 ½ years. She graduated from Salve Regina College in New Port, RI, in 1967.
While teaching in California, she met the love of her life, and was married on May 30, 1970, to George Lundstrom who was stationed in San Diego with the Navy.
Madeleine taught in both public and private schools for many years. She worked with children with special needs at the Wilder Foundation Child Guidance Clinic in St Paul, MN. Madeleine also worked for a time at Herbergers in Albert Lea, MN. She was a member of the P.E.O. and T.T.T.
Madeleine loved cooking and was always trying something new. Her signature treat was her chocolate chip cookies. The cookies and her recipe will be available to everyone at the visitation and at the service at church. She was a very active person who enjoyed jogging and walking and had run and completed three marathons. Madeleine loved hiking and snowshoeing so, she and George traveled to the mountains of Colorado annually since 1985. She was a very loving and loveable person who always cared deeply for others.
Madeleine is survived by her husband George of Albert Lea, MN, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Theresa.
