Mabel Johnson

A memorial service for Mabel S. Johnson will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at First Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. Reverend John Holt and Reverend Kent Otterman will officiate. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Lakewood Cemetery.
Mabel passed away at the Good Samaritan Society, Albert Lea on Saturday, March 12, 2016. She was 101 years old.
Mabel S. (Honstad) was born on January 5, 1915 to Lars and Mary (Ranes) Honstad in Rake, IA. She attended and graduated from Rake High School in 1933. On January 5, 1942, she was united in marriage to Reiner J. Johnson in Lake Crystal, MN. To this union, three children were born. Mabel was an active member at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. She was also a proud member of the Degree of Honor.
Mabel worked in the Materials Management department for the Naeve Hospital in Albert Lea from 1959 - 1987. She also was a clerk at the grocery store in Rake, IA, and worked as a clerk at Woolworth's in Albert Lea for a few years. Aside from work, Mabel enjoyed to embroider, and entertain family and friends. She enjoyed sharing stories and conversation with friends and family over a hot cup of coffee. She frequently traveled to Texas with the "Golden Girls." Most importantly, she loved her family above all else. She cherished every moment that she had with her entire family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Reiner; son-in-law, Arthur Lombard; grandsons, Scott and Timothy; siblings, Selmer Honstad, Sam (Rosie) Honstad, Otis (Erma) Honstad, Luella (Eldon) Peter, Marian (Kenny) Odson, Rhoda (Lloyd) Thompson, Lydia (Harlan) Helleksen, and Gertrude (Bill) Murra.
Those left to carry on her legacy include her children, Sharon Lombard of Albert Lea, Gary (Renee) Johnson, of Clarks Grove, and Ronald Johnson of Albert Lea; close family friend, Bev Torgerson; grandchildren, Dawn (David) Barnick, Brad (Jena) Lombard, Lisa Reuter, Kari Lombard, Jenny (Dana) Thompson, and Cindy (Ryan) Thompson; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Sarah, Brendan, Bryce, Jillian, Daniel, Patrick, Rachel, Brady, Dylan, Nick, Molly, Courtney, Madison, Logan, Nichele, Tyler, and Savannah; great-great-granddaughter, Aubree; as well as many other loving relatives and friends.
Per Mabel's wishes, memorials are preferred to Peace and Power.
