Graveside services for Lorrayne Evelyn Aysta will be held at 3PM Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Florenton Cemetery in Virginia, MN. Lorrayne died Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at the Thorne Crest Retirement Center in Albert Lea, MN. She was 90 years of age. Lorrayne was born June 29, 1928 in Wouri Township, MN, the daughter of Charles and Hilda (Anderson) Abelson. She was a graduate of Virginia High School in 1946 and the area community college. On September 10, 1948 she was united in marriage to Richard Aysta in Virginia, MN. Together they lived in East Lansing, Michigan, Chicago, Illinois and then Albert Lea, MN, since 1964. Lorrayne was a homemaker but was very active in community projects such as the Department of Human Rights having been appointed to that position by Gov. Rudy Perpich, Citizen of the Year in 1991 through the Albert Lea Elks Club, Freeborn County Human Services Board for 12 years, Albert Lea Tech Foundation for 6 years, American Cancer Society for over 34 years (was part of the committee to start the Bike-A-Thon). She loved Polka music and dancing and the family trips to Lake Vermillion in Tower, MN, where they had a cabin for many years. She was very proud to be a “Iron Ranger”. Lorrayne is survived by her son Scott (Diane) Aysta and their daughter Chloe of Albert Lea, MN, brother-in-law Robert (Bob) Nevala of Embarrass, MN, sister-in-law Lillian (Shorty) Abelson of Maple Grove, MN, special cousin Brian (Face) Maki, nieces, nephews and a host of good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Delores (Dolly) Nevala, brother Glenn Abelson and special family friend Erik Skarstad.
