Remembering the life of Lorraine "Rainy" F. Groff...
The Funeral Service for Lorraine "Rainy" F. Groff of Albert Lea will be held
at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 29, 2005 at the First Lutheran Church in
Albert Lea. Pastor John Holt will officiate. Interment will be in Clarks
Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. on Friday
at Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour before the service at the church.
Lorraine died on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at the Albert Lea Medical Center.
She was 77.
She was born on a snowy day, April 17, 1927, in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of
Adolph and May (Peterson) Halseth.
She graduated from Albert Lea High School. On October 25, 1945, she
married Marvin "Mike" Groff. They made their home in Albert Lea.
Lorraine loved being a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. When she was finished raising her family, she continued caring for her grandchildren, great
grandchildren and many other people's children.
She and Mike enjoyed enjoyed camping with the grandchildren. She
also loved reading, gardening, plants and flowers.
Lorraine is survived by her husband Mike of Albert Lea, five children: Dianne Burkart of Albert Lea, Michael Groff of Florence, South Carolina, Nancy and her husband JimThompson of Albert Lea, David Groff of Albert Lea, Randy Groff and his wife LorRae of Akenny, Iowa, grandchildren: Michelle and her husband Neal Drescher, Albert Lea, Todd Burkart and his wife Paula of Eagan, MN., Tami and her husband Dale Riecke of Hartland, MN., Matthew Groff of Pennsylvania, Jason Thompson of Albert Lea, Shaun Thompson and his wife Brie of Rochester, MN., Katie Thompson and her fiancAsh Josh Jacobson of Stewartville, MN., Amanda and her husband Ken Enger of Albert Lea, Melissa Groff and her special friend Tim of Albert Lea, Heidi, Luke and Emily Groff of Ankeny, IA., great grandchildren: Cory and Jennifer Flattum, Brittany and Kadin Burkart, Sarah and Anna Riecke, Autumn and Taylor Thompson, Kelsey and Carter Enger; sisters: Helen Mallory of Austin, MN, Norma Ruud of Albert Lea, Delores Syed of Los Angeles, CA, brother Nordean Halseth and his wife Barbara of Perry, FL, sisters-in-law Shirley Groff of Austin, MN, Shirley ElDorado of Minneapolis, MN, Avis Mussehl, of Dubuque, IA and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law Dick Burkart sisters Clarine, Mildred and Eunice.
