Lorraine Evenson

Funeral services for Lorraine A. Evenson will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, New Richland, MN, with Rev. Scott Williams officiating.  Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 PM on Monday at the Friedrich Funeral Chapel, New Richland, as well as one hour prior to the service at the church.

Lorraine passed away on Friday, June 28, 2019 at the New Richland Care Center.  She was 87 years old.

Lorraine Alma (Wenzel) was born on December 20, 1931 in New Richland, MN to William and Alma (Klinger) Wenzel.  She grew up in New Richland and graduated high school in 1949.  On June 27, 1951, she was united in marriage to Winston Evenson, the love of her life.  The couple was married at St. Peter Lutheran Church in New Richland.  Lorraine worked 26 years at EF Johnson’s in Waseca.

Lorraine enjoyed the simple things in life.  She did not need much to be happy.  She enjoyed volunteering at St. Peter Lutheran Church, where she was active in Altar Guild, Ladies Aide, and quilting.  She was also a member of the American Legion and VFW Auxiliary.  She enjoyed going shopping, going for walks, and dancing.  At the center of her life was her family and her happiest moments were the times she shared with them

Lorraine is survived by her husband of 68 years, Winston Evenson of New Richland; daughters, Mary Routh of New Richland and LeAnn (Curt) Fuchs of Faribault, MN; grandchildren, Alison (Jesse) Nelson, Rusty Routh, and Adam Routh (Missy Owens); Barry (Emily) Fuchs, Ross (Megan) Fuchs, and Cole Fuchs; great-grandchildren, Axel, Rex, Magnus, and Eero Nelson and Leni Routh; Elle, Jude, Ava, Eli and Rhett Fuchs and Vivian, Owen, and Lila Fuchs; sister, Arlene (Rodney) Johnson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ann Wenzel, Eilene Johnson, Joanne (Roger) Cherrington, Kathryn (Earl) Parriott, Charles (Karee) Evenson, and Ellsworth (Karen) Evenson; along with many loving relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by both parents, William and Alma; father and mother-in-law, Arthur and Alice Evenson; son-in-law, Dean Routh; brothers, Lester and his wife Marian Wenzel and William “Billy” Wenzel; brothers-in-law, Roger Evenson and wife Yvonne, and Maynard Johnson; and a niece, Ruth Ann Hager.

The family would like to thank the staff at the New Richland Care Center and St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion that was shown towards Lorraine.
