Obituary: Loren F. Cornick
The funeral service for Loren F. Cornick of Albert Lea will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, November 30, 2003 at Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel. The Reverend Paul Aldrich will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the chapel.
Loren died on Wednesday, November 26, 2003 at his home on Waldorf Road, after a courageous and difficult battle with Mylodysplastic Syndrome and heart problems.
He was born on December 14, 1933 in Hooker, Oklahoma, the son of Field and Muriel Cornick. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1951. He was a life time resident of Albert Lea except for 2 years he and his wife owned and operated a motel in McAllen, Texas. He married Janet Jensen of Clarks Grove on October 15, 1955. They were married for 38 years before they divorced. Loren was a member of the Albert Lea Elks and Eagle's Clubs. After high school he worked with his father doing interior and exterior decorating, then bought a back hoe business, and later a motel in Texas. Most of Loren's career was spent as an over the road truck driver for Streater's . He retired from Streaters in 1996 after 35 years of service. He enjoyed classic and sports cars and belonged to a car club for a number of years in Albert Lea. He loved to travel and enjoyed tours to South America and Europe in the recent past.
Loren is survived by his children: Gayle Cornick and William Cornick both of Owatonna; sister: Barbara Gilman and husband, Ralph of Albert Lea. Nieces: Natalie Nelson and husband, Dana and their children Derek and Nicole of Glenville, MN, Susanne Gilman of Minneapolis, MN; nephews: David Gilman and wife, Mary and their child, Katie of Albert Lea; Paul Gilman and his wife, Nancy and their children: Shane and Tori of Rochester, MN, also very close cousins: Rodney Jacobson and wife, Alice of Albert Lea, MN and Hugh Cornick and wife, Bernie of Albert Lea, MN, and very special friend and caregiver: Mary Lou Potter and friend, Karen Houge.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
