Graveside Services for Lonny J. Schmidt, Albert Lea, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, October 5
at Graceland Cemetery in Albert Lea. The Rev. Dr. Kristen Venne will officiate. Lonny died on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at the New Richland Care Center in New Richland, MN where he had been a resident for the past 4 ½ years. He was 77. He was born on November 29, 1937, in Walters, Minnesota the son of B. Henry and Eva (Katzung) Schmidt. He was a graduate of Albert Lea High School. Lonny had worked for Universal Tire Warehouse in Albert Lea for more than 25 years. He liked to ride motorcycle, watch boxing, and was an avid weight lifter. He enjoyed watching the Greenbay Packers and the Minnesota Twins. He appreciated the small things in life such as his nightly bowl of popcorn. He is survived by his sister Marian and her husband Clair Dahl of Ellendale, MN, nephew Ted Dahl and his wife Lyn of Pine City, MN, niece Sherry and her husband Randy Schott of Ellendale, MN; great nieces: Alison (Matt) Maas, Candy (Nate) Ruch; great nephew Jeremiah (Michelle) Underland and several great, great nieces and nephews. Lonny was preceded in death by his parents B. Henry and Eva Schmidt and his brother Robert Schmidt.
