Lois Olsen

Lois Leona Olsen, 87, formerly of New Richland, passed away Monday June 15, 2020 at the New Perspective Senior Living in Mankato.

Funeral Service will be Friday, June 19 at 11:00 am at the First Lutheran Church of Waldorf. Visitation will begin at 9:30am Friday at the church. Interment will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery of Waldorf.

Lois was born on September 20, 1932 to Herbert and Leona (Simmons) Kroeger in Waseca County and graduated from New Richland High School with the class of 1950.

On June 28, 1950 Lois married Herman Olsen, and together raised their family on the farm in the New Richland area.

Lois worked for Brown Printing and retired from the New Richland Care Center after 25 years of working. She continued volunteering at the care center many years after retiring.

Being with family was the most important to Lois, from her grandchildren to great-grandchildren. She even learned the art of Norwegian Hardanger after retirement and was able to give many pieces away to family and friends. Her care for others and generous spirit will be missed.

She is survived by her sons, Bob (Cindy) Olsen of Leland IA, Warren (Judy) Olsen of Wylie TX, Dean (Liz) Olsen of Mankato MN, and daughter-in-law, Dona Olsen of Jeffers, MN; grandchildren, Julie (Eric) Dahlin, Jodi (Jeremy) Johnson, LaCinda (Adam) Dover, Jon (Sarah) Olsen, Angela (Mathew) Schumacher, Joe (Penni) Olsen, Lindsey Olsen, Shelby (Zach) Thomas; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Carl and Leonard Kroeger; sister-in-law’s, Marilyn Gerdts and Arliss Bloch.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman; son, Larry Olsen; siblings, Dorothy Hellie, Lloyd Kroeger, Alice Bredlow and Archie Kroeger.
