Linda Lau

May 3, 1948 — November 22, 2010

Linda Mae Lau left this world on November 22nd surrounded by her loving family at her home. Linda was unexpectantly diagnosed with pancreatic cancer only nine days prior to her passing. The strength she showed when faced with this grave diagnosis was represented in her incredible character. Her only worries were not of herself, but of her husband Dennis, her children, Wendy, Denise, Dennis Junior, and her "other daughter" Julie along with her deeply loved grandchildren, Gage, Zakry, Korbin, Skye, Serena, RJ, Karissa, "Little Dennis", Rylie, Aspen, Ares, and Soul. Linda also adored her great grandchildren Lillie, Payton, and Kallie Jo, and her precious dogs, Jake and Elwood. Linda was an employee for the city of Albert Lea for many years up until her passing. She enjoyed her work, and the many friends she made during those years. She recently expressed her excitement to retire and spend her winters in Arizona with her loving husband and best friend, Dennis. Linda was the most giving and compassionate woman that I have ever known, and if you ask anyone who knew her, they would tell you that if you were ever in need, she would not hesitate to offer help. As a mother, she was all than I could have asked for and more. She was loving, forgiving, and never judgmental. As her child, even when I did wrong, she always found a way to turn it around into a lesson learned. Linda had a creative and nurturing heart. She was a perfectionist, an animal lover, a humanitarian, and one heck of a shopper! If there was a sale, you can bet she was there! Linda was especially close to her late mother Mary Ladlie. As an only child, when her mother took ill, Linda and her husband Dennis took her in and cared for her in their home until her passing. Family meant everything to her. Linda had some very strong wishes she had expressed regarding her death, and though unconventional, we have honored them. When in the hospital prior to her passing she was adamant that she did not want a funeral or even a simple memorial when she passed. her exact words were, " Let me enjoy the beauty of the flowers now when I can see them, let me enjoy my family now when I am with them". Her wish was to celebrate the moment, when she could be present, not when she was gone. My mother was a simple and practical woman who knew what she wanted, and when faced with her prognosis, did not falter in her wishes and beliefs. When I was a child my mother had a picture on her wall that read, "those who are not busy being born, are busy dying"...I never understood the meaning of that until now. Rest in peace mom, you will be forever in my heart, and in the hearts of so many that you have touched. Words cannot express how deeply you will be missed. The family requests that any donations be made to the National Cancer society on behalf of Linda Lau.
