Lillian Christian Obitury
The funeral service for Lillian Christian of Albert Lea, MN, will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 22, 2004, at Federated Church, Fergus Falls, MN. Pastor John Lindholm will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Tuesday, with a prayer service conducted by Pastor Dan Baker at 7:30 PM, at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea, MN. Friends may visit with the family one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in the Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Fergus Falls, MN.
Lillian died Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at her home. She was 88 years old.
Lillian was born in Fergus Falls, MN, the daughter of Carl and Olive (Olds) Gundberg on August 3, 1916. She graduated from Fergus Falls High School, December 19, 1937. She married Phalen Christian in Vallejo, CA. To this union was born a son, Michael. After Phalen was discharged from the Navy, they returned to Fergus Falls. She was a den mother in the Boy Scouts and a member of the Federated Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher and member of the church choir. She was a member of the Modern Squares. She also worked as a receptionist at the Waylander Clinic of Fergus Falls, MN.
In 1983 they moved to Albert Lea. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and American Legion and the Grapevine Twist. She enjoyed breakfast at McDonalds with friends and listening to the Twins baseball games.
Lillian is survived by her son, Dr. Michael Christian and wife, Mary Ann of Albert Lea, MN; 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren: Deb and JC Piquiant and their children, Ally and Jon Cabrena of Miami, FL, Rebecca and Tom Nitke of Jacksonville, FL, Jon and Kathie Christian and their children, Nick, Maddie and Josie of Houston, TX, Judy and Tim Haugen and son, Jeff of Phoenix, AZ , Pete and Tammy Chistian and children, Linday and Logan of Houston, TX; brother, Maynard Gundberg of Fergus Falls, MN; sister, Gladys Borck of Alexandria, MN; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Phalen in 1989; sister, Doris Menard; brother-in-law, Art; sister-in-law, Anne Gundberg.
