Funeral services for Lillian C. Berg, age 91 of New Richland, will be held at
2:00 P.M. Monday, February 28, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Richland,
where she was a life time member. Rev Paul Andree will officiate. Burial will be in
St. Olaf Cemetery, rural New Richland. She passed away Thursday, February 24, 2005 at the New Richland Care Center.
Lillian was born in New Richland Township, Waseca County, on May 18, 1913 to Ole
J. Bakken and his wife Alette (Berg) Bakken.
She was baptized by Rev. O. A. Melby in 1913 and confirmed by Rev. J.C. Walledom on
May 28, 1928.
She attended rural school District #42 and one year High School in New Richland.
She was then employed at the J.W. Romine Produce and Egg Plant in New Richland until
marriage to Milford Berg , January 28th 1933.
The first thirteen years of their marriage they lived in New Richland and Waseca. In
March of 1946, they moved to a farm in Otisco Township, where they lived for 40 years.
She had worked at Farimont Canning Company and later Birds Eye General Foods for quite a number of years.
She was a homemaker and loved to work outside on the farm and take care of the lawn and her flowers. She also liked to bake and sew, but with her impaired vision was unable to take part in many things she liked to do.
In April12 of 1986, they retired into New Richland. Her husband Milford passed away on
May 28, 1986.
Survivors are one daughter Margery and her husband Alvie Arnold of Owatonna, two grandchildren: Ricki Arnold and his wife Lori of rural New Richland, and Tami and
her husband Kevin Danger of rural Braham, MN., one great granddaughter Bobbi Jo Danger, two great grandsons Trevor and Brendon Arnold; also sisters-in?law and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding her in death besides her husband are her parents, a great grandson Levi Arnold;
3 sisters: IseNora (Mrs. Oscar) Reese, Adeline (Mrs Russell)Nelson, Edith (Mrs. George) L. Homer; five brothers: Arnold, LeRoy, Marvel, Reuben and a brother
Joel who died in infancy.
