LeVine Raxine (Loken) Paulson passed away on June 13, 2024, at the New Richland Care Center. She was 98 years old. LeVine was born on January 30, 1926, to Clarence and Palma (Olson) Loken at the Norby farm in Ellendale, MN. She was baptized at First Lutheran Church in Ellendale, started Wednesday school at the church at the age of three years, and was confirmed at LeSueur River Lutheran in 1940. LeVine attended first grade at District 53 country school in Lemond Township as well as several other country schools before graduating from New Richland High School in 1944. After graduation, she attended the Naeve School of Nursing in Albert Lea, MN graduating in the Class of 1947. LeVine was employed as a registered nurse at Naeve Hospital in Albert Lea, Birds Eye in Waseca for 25 years, and Country Neighbors in New Richland for nine years.
LeVine was united in marriage to James Paulson in 1948 at LeSueur River Lutheran Church. James and LeVine farmed the Paulson farm east of St. Olaf Lake for nearly 50 years. They traveled extensively, setting foot on six continents. LeVine enjoyed gardening, genealogy, history, and above all--her family. She especially loved to watch her great-granddaughters performing music and dancing.
LeVine is survived by a daughter, Ranae (Niel) Berg of Hartland, five grandchildren: Evan (Kerry) Berg of New Richland, Tait (Lindsey) Berg of New Richland, Kellen (Hannah) Berg of Minneapolis, Mandy (Pat) Sutherland of Eagle Lake, and Ryan Paulson of Sioux Falls, SD; four great-granddaughters: Lily Sutherland, Ada, Lyla, and Mina Berg; two step-great grandchildren: Cora Sutherland of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Owen Sutherland of New York City; daughter-in-law Linda Paulson of St. Peter, nieces: LeAnn (Dean) Buendorf of New Richland, Marsha (Bob) Heers of Owatonna, nephews: John (Cheryl) Herbst of New Richland, and Kevin (Lori) Herbst of Albert Lea as well as several great nephews, nieces and cousins. LeVine was preceded in death by her husband, James in 1995, son, Randy in 2000, sister-in-law, Doris Herbst in 1991, and brother-in-law, Stanley Herbst in 2018.
