Funeral services for Lester Wenzel will be held at 11 AM Thursday, April 21, 2016 at St. Peter Lutheran Church of New Richland. Pastor Scott Williams will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Wednesday, April 20 at Bonnerup-Friedrich Funeral Chapel in New Richland and again one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in St. Peter Cemetery, New Richland.
Lester William Wenzel died Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the New Richland Care Center. He was 86 years old.
Lester was born October 13, 1929 in Waseca, MN to Alma (Klinger) & William H. Wenzel. He grew up in New Richland and graduated from New Richland High School in 1947. He has been a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church where he married Marian L. Kormann on August 16, 1950. Lester worked at Borchards Implement and the New Richland Co-op Implement. He always said "customer service is #1!"
In his younger years, he was a member of the New Richland Fire Department. Lester remained very enthusiastic about the Minneapolis-Moline Collectors Club and enjoyed reading his quarterly Prairie Gold Rush magazine. Lester looked forward to entering his restored Moline tractors in the annual New Richland Farm and City Days parade. He was a soft-spoken and caring man who will be missed by many.
Lester is survived by his children, Diane (Rich) Wesely of Bloomington, Daryl (Judi) Wenzel of Omaha, NE, Craig (Lesley) Wenzel of New Richland; grandchildren, Erin (John) Schultz, Grant (Tamara) Wesely, Erica (Jonny) Becker, Lauren Wenzel, Bryan Wenzel, Lynsey (TJ) Lindholm, Kyle (Laura) Wenzel; great-grandchildren, Austin & Mila Wesely, Jack, Andrew, & George Schultz, Olivia Becker, Aiden & Brody Lindholm; sisters, Lorraine (Winston) Evenson, Arlene (Rodney) Johnson; sisters and brothers in-law, Ann & Gene Yackle, Audrey Stafford, Edna Wenzel, Thelma Kormann, Betty Kormann, Audrinne Kormann, Harlan & Ginny Kormann, Barb & Harlen Beyer; special friend, Eleanor Schlaak; as well as many other relatives.
Lester is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marian Wenzel; brother, William W. Wenzel; and many brothers and sisters in-law.
