The memorial service for LeRoy Christensen of Rt 2 Ellendale, Minnesota will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Community Lutheran Church, Ellendale. Pastor Joel Xavier will officiate. Interment will be in Geneva Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Ellendale. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to the Crossroads Community Hospice, Freeborn County.
LeRoy died Friday, August 15, 2003 at Albert Lea Medical Center. He was 78 years old.
LeRoy was born June 25, 1925 in Bath Township, Freeborn County, Minnesota to Adolph and Agnes (Nelson) Christensen. He was a lifetime Bath Township resident. LeRoy went to District 90 school in Bath Township and attended Ellendale High School. He married Agnes Martin on October 29, 1950 at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. After his marriage they lived at Waterloo, Iowa and he worked for Rath Packing Plant. He then moved back to Bath Township where he operated a Dairy Farm. LeRoy worked for his brother doing carpenter work. LeRoy also worked for Smith Douglass and Wilson & Company. He belonged to the Farmers Union, enjoyed reading and listening to Country Music, taking his annual trip out west to visit his daughter, mowing lawns, going to the County and State Fair, attending car shows and his dog. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and family.
LeRoy is survived by his wife Agnes of Rt2 Ellendale, Minnesota; seven children: Sharon Ezell and her husband Douglas of Billings, Montana, Steven Christensen and his wife Judy of Rt2 Ellendale, Minnesota, Alan Christensen of Rt 2 Ellendale, Minnesota, Robert Christensen and his wife Linda of Rt 1 Hartland, Minnesota, Marilyne Donahue and her husband Greg of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Marianne Christensen of Ellendale, Minnesota and David Christensen of Fort Smith, Arkansas; grandchildren: Daniel Christensen and Nicole Christensen of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Molly and Andrew Ezell, Emily Christensen, Ben Christensen and Caitlyn Nelson; brother: Marvin Christensen of Freeborn, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents Adolph and Agnes Christensen; infant daughter: Gloria Christensen; brother Raymond Christensen and sister: Ada Folie.
