Remembering the life of Leonard "Lenny H. Johnson...



The Funeral Service for Leonard H. Johnson of Albert Lea, will be held at

11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 3, 2005 at Ascension Lutheran Church.

The Reverend Clark Cary will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. on Tuesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church.



Leonard died on Sunday evening, July 31, 2005 at St. John's Lutheran Home.

He was 81.



He was born on December 21, 1923, in Northwood, Iowa, the son of John and Anna

(Turvold) Johnson.



He graduated from Northwood High School. Following graduation he began farming on the family farm west of Northwood.

On July 20, 1946, he married Betty Schreiber in Albert Lea.

In addition to farming he had also began working at Wilson & Co. He later moved into Albert Lea and continued working at Farmstead, retiring after 22 years.



He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church.



Leonard enjoyed playing golf, and helped with organization of the Senior League at Green Lea Golf Course.

He was a member of the Wednesday morning Kiwanis, also was a volunteer at

the Albert Lea Medical Center.



He is survived by the wife of 59 years, Betty of Albert Lea; two daughters Dianne and her husband Larry Jacobson of Albert Lea, Jodi and her husband Rick Mershon of Fort Worth, Texas, son-in-law Barry Bendickson of Forest City, Iowa;

Grandchildren: Chad Jacobson of Emmetsburg, IA, Cara and her husband Rob Liddle of Prior Lake, MN, Brooke Jacobson of Albert Lea, Tori and her husband Ryan Eastvold of Clear Lake, IA, Jack Mershon of Fort Worth, TX, two great granddaughters Megan and Brynn Liddle of Prior Lake, MN, two brothers:

Alton Johnson of Clear Lake, IA, Kenneth Johnson and his wife Olga of Albert Lea;

sister Nina and her husband Paul Emmons of Wisconsin, sisters-in-law Helen and

her husband Emil Lykken, Ruth Schreiber, and Joyce Schreiber all of Albert Lea

and several nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Richard Mershon, daughter Patty Bendickson, brother Orville Johnson.
