Lena DeBoer, 93 died Monday, December 22, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Center, Albert Lea. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday December 29, 2008 at the Hollandale Reformed Church in Hollandale. Visitation at Bonnerup Funeral Home, Sunday, December 28 from 5-7 p.m. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Interment will be in the Hollandale Cemetery.
Lena was born June 3, 1915 to John and Nellie Terpstra at Clara City, Iowa.
Survivors are her children, son Gerald DeBoer and wife Linda, Barb (DeBoer) Jensen and husband Dale. Eight grandchildren: Todd DeBoer, Troy DeBoer, Brad DeBoer, Dawn (Jim) Wise, Greg Jensen (Janelle), Jill (Joel) Martin, Christa (Mark) Stieler and Chanda DeBoer; Nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harold; son Robert; five brothers and three sisters: Joseph, Elze, twin boys and John Jr., Mrs. Harry (Ann) Rice, Mrs. Jennie (Lloyd) Weseman, Catherine Terpstra, Nellie Terpstra, Bertha (Terpstra) Stewart of Norwalk, Ca.; Also half brothers: Peter Zoeterman, half sister: Mrs. Fred (Ada) Overlander and half brothers: Benjamin and Albert Terpstra and half sister Mattie Terpstra.
Lena enjoyed playing cards, quilting and reading and being with great grandchildren. She made great donuts and bread.
