LaVonne Meyer

LaVonne (Hagen) Meyer passed away at her home in New Richland, Minnesota on March 21st.

LaVonne was born to Lola Miskoff and Jasper Hagen on February 20, 1941. She lived in the New Richland Area her entire life and graduated from New Richland Hartland High School in 1959.

LaVonne began her career at the New Richland Star in 1959 as office manager as well as copy editor, receptionist, photographer and jack-of -all trades. LaVonne purchased the paper in 2002 from Margaret Engesser and continued to run the paper until 2005 when she sold the paper to Jim Lutgens.

LaVonne married Richard (Dick) Meyer in New Richland on March 22,1965. They had three children: Brad, Bruce and Brenda. LaVonne enjoyed country music, shopping, eating out, gardening, mowing her lawn, tilling her garden, cooking, dancing, visiting Diamond Jo's Casino, and spending time with her Kwik Trip friends in Waseca.

LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents, Lola and Jasper, her husband Dick and two sisters and her best friend Mary Supalla. She is survived by her sons Brad and his wife Karen Meyer, Bruce and his wife Anne Meyer, and daughter Brenda and her husband Luke Dobberstein; six grandchildren, Evan Dobberstein, Alex Dobberstein, Alden Dobberstein, Allison McNally and her husband Blake, Ryan Meyer and Skylar Meyer. She is also survived by her little sisters Cheryl Engesser Kortuem, Sandi Engesser Jessen and her good friends Doug Lund and Vivvika Niehaus.

LaVonne is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.

Services will be held on Sunday, March 30 beginning at 1 PM at Friedrich's Funeral Home in New Richland. Burial will follow at St. Olaf Cemetery.

LaVonne was in the newspaper business for 47 Years! This is her last story.
