Funeral services for LaVerne James Neitzell, of Hollandale, MN, will be held 11:00, Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at Bonnerup Funeral Chapel, of Albert Lea, MN. Pastor Jamie Cameron will officiate. Burial will be in Geneva Cemetery, Geneva, MN. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M., Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at the Bonnerup Funeral Chapel and one hour before the service at the Chapel. LaVerne died on Wed., Feb. 19, 2014, at the Good Samaritian Society in Albert Lea, MN. He was 82 years old. LaVerne was born in Hollandale on July 11, 1931 to Jay and Olive (Smith) Neitzell. He grew up in Hollandale and went to school in Hollandale and Albert Lea, MN. On Jan. 9, 1951 he was united in marriage to Kathryn Holstein. LaVerne farmed in the Hollandale area. He was employed at Wilson Foods for 35 years. LaVerne enjoyed wood working, playing cards, fishing, hunting and trapping. He also enjoyed spending time up north with his family at the cabin.
He is survived by one daughter Janice (Mike) Sasser, of Huntertown, IN: four sons: Jay (Marsha) Neitzell of Albert Lea, MN, Vernon (Cheri) of Austin, MN, Jon (Debbie) of Stillwater, MN and Jim (Heather) of Boise, ID 25 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, one brother Jerry (Lily) Neitzell of Ellendale, MN, one sister Bev Harpel: and many cousins, nieces and nephews. LaVerne was preceded in death by his parents, wife Kathryn, one sister Darla Janka, and brother-in-laws Eber Harpel and Rudy Janka.
