Laurel Herdina

November 21, 1923 — December 20, 2015

Funeral services for Laurel P. Herdina will be held at 10:30AM Monday, December 28, 2015 at Salem Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Pastor Mark Boorsma will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Laurel passed away at St. John's Care Center on Sunday, December 20th of 2015 while on hospice. She was born on November 21, 1923 to Chester and Olga Jensen on a farm in Bancroft Township.

Laurel was married on January 5, 1952 to Robert E. Herdina who preceded her in death in 2010. She worked at Wilson & Company for 35 years on the bacon line and she still loved bacon after all those years.

Laurel was a loving mother and a great cook. Her homemade rolls, boiled raisin cookies, and Special K bars were welcome at many church functions and family gatherings. Over the years Laurel made over 300 Christmas stockings for family members and friends.

Laurel is survived by her sons, Larry Lahs (Mary), Bruce Herdina (Shari), and Steve Herdina (Linda); seven grandchildren, Larry Lahs Jr. (Nancy), Laura Delano (Ken), Linda Meza, Katie Herdina, Anna Carpenter (David), Dawn Kelling, and Phillip Herdina (Irma); nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Giny Nelson, Betty Bydg; brother, Rodney Jensen; sister-in-law, Carol (Dick) Mulcahey; brothers-in-law, Don Herdina and Jerome Herdina; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Laurel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; sister, Beverly; mother-in-law, Caroline Herdina; and father-in-law, Henry Herdina. Blessed be her memory.
