The funeral service for Kenneth A. Petersen of Albert Lea, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 24, 2005 at Grace Lutheran Church. Pastor John Henriksen will officiate.
Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before service at the church. Military Honors Accorded by Albert Lea Veteran?s Organizations.
Kenneth died Monday, June 20, 2005 at Albert Lea Medical Center. He was 84 years old.
Kenneth was born in Alden, MN on February 17, 1921, the son of Frances and Elma Petersen. He graduated from Alden High School. Following graduation he sold popcorn at Kenny?s Corn Crib in Alden and was a bell hop at the Hotel Albert in Albert Lea. He than entered the Army serving in India under Lord Louis Mountbatten. After serving his country he returned to Albert Lea. He worked at Smith Tire & Electric and later Motor Supply. He also owned and operated his own advertising business. Kenneth was married to Donna (Olson) Chaplin, September 1953 in Albert Lea, MN. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Kenneth was a lifetime member of the VFW, member of the American Legion and the Elks Club. He enjoyed playing accordion by ear, dancing and singing.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Donna of Albert Lea, MN; daughter: Judy Christiansen and husband, Jim of Wayzata, MN; son: Terry Chaplin and wife, Jean of Spearfish, SD;
6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brother: Leslie Petersen of Crosby, MN; sister-in-law: Carol Petersen of Albert Lea, MN; many nieces and nephews.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clifford, sisters, Ardis Register and Edith Blood.
Kenneth will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
