Remembering the life of Kenneth C. Nelson



The Funeral Service for Kenneth C. Nelson of New Richland, will be held at

11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 18, 2004 at the Trinity Lutheran Church

in New Richland. The Reverend Paul Andree will officiate. Interment will be in

Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis with military honors by the Fort Snelling Memorial Rifle Squad. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m.-8:00p.m. on Friday at Friedrich Funeral Home, New Richland and one hour

before the service at the church.



Kenneth died on Tuesday, December 14, 2004 at the New Richland Care Center.

He was 87.



He was born on May 17, 1917, in rural New Richland, the son of Andrew and Carrie

(Lonning) Nelson.

He lived in the New Richland area all of his life.



He attended school in District #54, Waseca County and as a young man he

began helping on area farms.

Kenneth served our country in the U.S. Army from September of 1942 until

receiving his honorable discharge in November of 1945.



When he returned from the service he began custom farming. He later

owned and operated Nelson Trucking Business in New Richland, retiring

in the early 1980?s.

Kenneth married Bernice Stavenau on January 10, 1950 at the Trinity Lutheran Church Parsonage in New Richland.



Kenneth was a member of the Waseca V.F.W. were he was past commander and

served as past District V.F.W. Commander. He was also member of the New Richland American Legion where he was past commander. Kenneth was a member of the Cooties.



Throughout his life Kenneth enjoyed hunting, fishing and helping on the farm.



He is survived by his wife Bernice of New Richland; brother Bert Nelson and his wife LaVerl of Owatonna, sister Loretta Marzinske of Dorchester, WI., and several

nieces, nephews and cousins.



He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Stanley Nelson.
