Funeral services for Kenneth L. Nelson of Albert Lea, MN, will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel. Pastor Mark Boorsma will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Chapel. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery, Albert Lea, MN.

Kenneth died Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Home. He was 93 years of age.

Kenneth was born December 18, 1924 in Albert Lea, MN, the son of Otto and Inga (Hovland) Nelson. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, a graduate of Albert Lea High School and served in the US Navy for a short period of time.

On May 18, 1946 he was united in marriage to Vera Jensen at Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. He had been employed by Midway Machine and Welding from 1942 thru 1956. He then went to work at Queen’s Products from 1956 thru retirement in 1989 serving as a research engineer holding several patents with the company. Kenneth was a member of the American Legion, the Golden K Kiwanis and served on the board with the Water Shed District. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Vera Nelson of Albert Lea, MN, daughters Kathleen Majerus of Gurnee, IL, Karen Baker of Chelsea, MI, Kristine (Jeff) Chryst of Albert Lea, MN, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one brother Harlan “Hud” and wife Polly Nelson of Albert Lea, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Viola Nelson, sons-in-law Bob Majerus and Melvin Baker.

Memorials preferred to the Freeborn County Historical Museum or the Albert Lea American Legion.
