Kathleen Cheryl “Kathy” (Bailey) Schoon passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025, after a very brief battle of cancer.
Kathy was born September 9, 1946, to Clarence and Emma "Evelyn" (Heath) Bailey, joining her sister Deloris. Kathy grew up and attended school in Albert Lea. In 1962, she married her soulmate Ben C. Schoon. Together they built a life of love, Faith and family. They enjoyed traveling together, taking many road trips on their motorcycle, cruises with friends and enjoying time on horseback.
Kathy enjoyed spending time outdoors and with her animals, from a very small age she enjoyed helping her father in his garden, and through to her very last days cared for her pets. Kathy was of member of the Church of Christ volunteering her time with the live nativity and making sure her grandchildren also were able to experience the magic of Christmas. She was a faithful woman, she and Ben enjoyed many summers at the Ironwood Springs Christian ranch where they camped, rode horses and share special times with their grandchildren. Later, they kept their own horses, this love of horses spread on to their grandchildren that eventually led to an engagement of their oldest granddaughter and sparked the competitiveness of barrel racing with their youngest granddaughter.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Lavonne (Michael) Krueger, Kimberly (Roger) Stolt, and Lynette (Brian) Johnson; grandchildren, Hollie (Ryan) Draayer, Nicole (Joseph) Brooks, Jennifer (Kyle) Ignaszewski, Kelsey (Ethan) Rodehorst, Nadean (Trenton) Thoms, Dillon Stolt, Madison Johnson, and Brody Johnson; great- grandchildren, Riley, Emery, and Carly Draayer, Evan and Joel Brooks, Marie and Rory Ignaszewski, Murphy Rodehorst, Harland and Seaver Thoms; many nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law, Mel (Sandra) Schewe.
Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ben, parents, Clarence and Evelyn Bailey; infant sister, Lavonne Bailey, and sister, Dolores (Donald) Stanley; father and mother-in-law, Ben and Augusta Schoon; brother-in-law, Verl Schoon; sister-in-law, Joyce (Orlin) Poplow; and a niece, Dawn Omvig.
In accordance with Kathy’s wishes, a private service will be held. The family appreciates your understanding and support during this time.
