.Karelyn Kay Porter (Olson), 77, of Rochester, formally of Albert Lea, died surrounded by family on August 4, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Home due to complications from a stroke.
Karelyn was born on December 2, 1939 in Albert Lea to Manley and Alma (Cram) Olson. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1958, married Keith Porter Sr. on August 3, 1958, and had three children.
She enjoyed embroidery, baking for friends and family, and bragging about her grandchildren. Karelyn really enjoyed cooking for any reason and for anyone. She was very thankful for all of the friendships she had over the years in Rochester. She loved spending time going to the movies, going out to eat, and other various outings with her friends. The support given by these people will forever be treasured.
Karelyn is survived by her siblings Doreen Plaisance of Swannanoa, NC, Dick Olson of Clear Lake, IA, and Arlan (Lyla) Olson of Citrus Heights, CA. Her children Kristie (Brian) Jordahl of Albert Lea, Keith Jr. (Kim) Porter of Albert Lea, and Kent (Kelly) Porter of Cheyenne, WY. Eight grandchildren Kellie Jordahl, Josh Jordahl, Stephani Terry, Steven Wasmund, Ami (Dustin) Garduno, Sarah Porter, Hannah Porter and AJ Porter. Seven great-grandchildren; Damion, Zach, Marissa, Ana, Logan, Jayci, and Evan.
Karelyn loved polka dots so please join us in wearing polka dots to her Celebration of Life on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel at 11:00 AM in Albert Lea, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Pastor Glen Monson will officiate.
