Kaitlyn Christine McColley

Kaitlyn Christine McColley, 22 of Albert Lea, MN passed away on March 18, 2023 at her home.

Kaitlyn was born on June 5, 2000 in Faribault, MN to Randy and Carmen (Kelly) McColley.   She attended school in Onamia, MN through second grade and graduated from Greene County High School in Jefferson, Iowa in 2018.  Following her high school graduation she attended Central College in Pella, IA for a short time before returning home in Albert Lea.  In 2021 she decided to return to college, attending Wartburg college with her younger sister, Emma; she was most recently enrolled at Riverland College and working on a degree for elementary education with a coaching endorsement.  With a caring heart, Kaitlyn loved her recent jobs working at the YMCA Childcare and Regency Home Health; both located in Austin, MN.

As a youngster she loved to swim and spent hours pedaling her bike around the neighborhood. At the age of 5 her loving cat, Princess, joined the family, even sharing a birthday with Kaitlyn. While attending high school she was active in choir and band and on the basketball team and golf team, and as team manager for the basketball team, but her favorite sport was volleyball where she excelled as a server for the team.  Strong in her faith Kaitlyn stayed active with her church youth group, THUG, True Heros Under God.  She would often serve on church mission trips across the United States to assist underprivileged children and families; she had an extremely giving heart and loved to help anyone who needed it.  Above all things she treasured her family the most. She loved spending time with her sisters, Lorraine and Emma, and going on day trips to get their nails and hair done, shopping, or just sitting around and enjoying time together.  Her nieces and nephews held a special place in her heart and she loved them dearly; calling them on the phone or taking them on lunch dates as often as she could.  Kaitlyn had a love for life and her smile and big heart will be missed by all who loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are her parents, Randy and Carmen; siblings, Chris (Liz), Mike (Amanda), Emma, and Kendrick McColley; brother in law, Nathan Wuebker; nieces and nephews, Zach, Brittany, Jackson, Kadence, and Emmett, grandmother, Patricia Kelly; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her cat, Princess.

Kaitlyn was preceded in death by her sister, Lorraine; grandparents, Dennis and MaryAnn McColley and Donald Kelly; aunt, Teresa Schmitz; and special friend, Gabby Ludwig.

A funeral service for Kaitlyn will be held on Monday, March 27, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Bonnerup Funeral and Cremation Services in Albert Lea, MN; Pastor Marcia Pederson will officiate.  Kaitlyn’s family will greet guests at a visitation two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
