The funeral service for Kairen M. Cummings will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Pastor Andrea Myers will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, from 4-7 at Bonnnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea, as well as one hour prior to the service at church.
Kairen Cummings passed away with her children by her side on September 18, 2012 at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Albert Lea. She was 69 years old.
Kairen was born on September 11, 1943. The daughter of Elmer and Martha (Jamison) Olson, she attended Glenville Schools, and after receiving her GED, completed coursework in bookkeeping, upholstery school, and cake decorating. On October 10, 1964 she married Lester Cummings in Northwood, IA. Together they moved to Albert Lea and raised three children.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, as well as a Women's Auxiliary Officer at the Union Center for over 20 years. She spent the majority of her time working in food service as a cook.
Kairen will be remembered as a loving, strong woman. She enjoyed Elvis, western movies, seek and find puzzles, bingo, cards, quilting and sewing, but most of all, she loved her family. She was always there to take her grandkids to Shopko and McDonalds and would offer a helping hand to anyone in need. She was very family oriented, and loved to keep everyone together.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester; brother, Larry; and great-granddaughter, Lynn.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Frank) Garcia of Clarks Grove, Chris (Jane) Cummings of Algona, IA, and Corey (Erin) Cummings of Alden; grandchildren, David, Jacob, Nic, Anissa, Emily, Josh, Jared, Alex, Aidan, and Andrew; great-grandchildren, Treyton, Arianna, Phillip, and Caden; siblings, Arletta Woods, Roger Olson, and Edna Herfendal; many nieces and nephews; and other loving relatives and friends.
She will be deeply loved and missed.
