Juliann Riemer

The memorial service for Juliann M. Riemer of Albert Lea will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the Ascension Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. Pastor Mark Boorsma will officiate. Interment will be in Concordia Bear Lake Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2011 at Bonnerup Funeral Service Albert Lea and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Juliann Marie (Heine) Riemer was born April 24, 1924 in Pickerel Lake Township, Freeborn County to Fred and Bertha (Lutteke) Heine. She attended elementary school in Conger and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1943. She married Raymond on June 29, 1947 at Pickerel Lake Concordia Church and lived in the Albert Lea area.

Julie and Ray spent their lives in the Albert Lea area. Julie worked as a secretary at Stephenson Music, Midwest Loan Company, and ended her career as an executive secretary with Scotsman. Julie was an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church and enjoyed serving as a member of the Altar Guild, the quilting group and WELCA.

Julie is survived by Ray and their three sons, Bruce R. (Jane) of Albert Lea, Richard A. (Karen) of Minneapolis, and David L.(Shirley) of rural Conger. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren- Christopher (Carla) Riemer of Belle Plaine, Michael Riemer, Annie (Dave) Heuer, Jessica Riemer, Katie Riemer and Elizabeth Riemer, all in the Twin Cities, and two especially great grandchildren, Juliann and Justin Riemer. She is survived by sisters Marie Nelson of St. Petersburg, FL, Lois (John) Mortenson of Fayetteville AR, and Shirley (Larry) Peterson of St. Joseph, MN, and brothers Kenneth (Sandra) Heine and Gerald Heine of Conger MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant child Bruce Fredrick Riemer and brothers Clarence and Lawrence, sisters Doris and Lorene, and brothers-in-law Ralph Nelson, Corwin Larson and LeRoy Behr and sisters-in-law Lucille Heine and Lois Heine. Also preceding her in death were her special friends Agnes Hartz and Jan Mershon.

Julie took great joy in the love of her husband Ray, her family and her many friends. She was able to spend her last few days surrounded by her family, who thank her for the gift of life and the years of love and care, for sharing her warmth and her wonderful sense of humor. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Albert Lea Medical Center and Crossroads Community Hospice staff for the wonderful care provided to Julie and the support and assistance extended to the family. Special thanks are also extended to Pastor Mark Boorsma, Ascension Lutheran Church, for his counsel and comfort.

Memorials to Ascension Lutheran Church for World Hunger, the Ascension Lutheran Church Organ Fund, or Crossroads Community Hospice in lieu of flowers are preferred. Blessed be her memory
