Joy Johnson, 67, of Albert Lea, passed away unexpectedly on January 11, 2025, at her home.
Born on September 19, 1957, Joy was a daughter of the late John and Florence (Yerhot) Wyant. Throughout her life, Joy was a radiant spirit whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of many around her.
Joy and her fiancé, Mark Bader, were the proud owners of Bader’s Café, a beloved local establishment where they dedicated themselves to providing not only great food but also heartfelt conversations and wise advice. Joy had an unparalleled ability to connect with others; she was known for her genuine interest in the lives of her customers and her unwavering support for her friends and family.
A devoted mother, Joy was the heart of her family, embodying strength, resilience, and unconditional love. She will be remembered for her social spirit, always seeking out the good in others and bringing everyone together. Joy delighted in exploring consignment shops, taking her mom out shopping and tending to her plants and garden. She also very much enjoyed spending time with all her grandchildren, they were one of her greatest joys in life. Above all, she was a deeply spiritual person, grounded in her faith.
A Memorial will be held at her “happy place” Bader’s Café on Saturday, January 25th from 2-6pm. The family invites all to join and share stories and happy memories with them.
Those left to cherish Joy’s memory include her fiancé, Mark Bader; children, Dale Johnson, Jr., Loretta (Tyler) Yusten, Kyle Bader and Victoria (Alec) Johnson; grandchildren, Blaze, Jersey, and Dax Yusten, Samantha and Adrian “Addi” Johnson, Lily and Leo Bader; siblings, Claire W. Christosserson and John P. Wyant. She is also lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, her favorite grandpup, Rhodey, and her furbaby Mac.
In addition to her parents, Joy is preceded in death by her late husband, Dale Johnson, Sr., brother, Larry Wyant, and furbaby Rose.
