Joseph Jensen

Funeral Services for Joseph S. Jensen, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, June 11,
at St. Theodore Catholic Church., Albert Lea. The Reverend Timothy T. Reker and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by Albert Lea Veteran's Organizations. Visitation will be from 5-7p.m. on Tuesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church.
Joseph was born on November 1, 1919, in LeRoy, MN, the son of Johannes and Ruby Jensen. Joseph proudly served our country in the U.S. Army, and was a POW for more than 30 months before his honorable discharge in September of 1945. Joe was united in marriage to Leota Buttolph on May 2, 1946 in Spring Valley, MN. Following their marriage, Joe and Leota lived in LeRoy, MN for a short time, then Nebraska,
and have resided in Albert Lea since 1956. Joe worked for the USDA serving as a federal poultry and egg inspector for more than 27 years before retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church where he enjoyed serving as head usher for several years. Joe was a true "handyman" and could make almost anything work. He was also very gifted at
wood working and enjoyed sharing and giving his creations to others. He was a member of the American Legion and the DAV. Joe died on Friday, June 6, 2014 at Good Samaritan Society, Albert Lea. He was 94.
He is survived by two sons: Jerry Jensen and special friend Jan of Albert Lea, MN, Dennis (Nancy) Jensen of Apple Valley, MN; grandchildren: Jennifer (Brad) Becker of Cannon Falls, MN, Jason (Kelly) Jensen of Prior Lake, MN, and Angie and Beth of St. Louis, Missouri; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Leota, granddaughter Tamara Ann Jensen; sisters: Ella Musel, Dorothy Orke, brothers: Francis, William, and Ralph Jensen. Joe was a very quiet, gentle and humble man. He will be greatly missed.
