The funeral service for Jon C. Aronson of Ellendale, MN will be 1:00p.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at First Lutheran Church Ellendale. Reverend Arne Halbakken will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 -1:00 prior to the service
Jon Chester Aronson died November 4, 2009 at home. Jon was born November 9, 1950 in Owatonna to Joyce C.H. Aronson and Phyllis I. (Gardner) Aronson. He graduated from Ellendale High School, class of 1968. He was president of his senior class. Jon attended and graduated from St. Cloud State University in 1973 with an Art major.
Jon worked for Wayne Manufacturing in Owatonna, later for D & J Siding, Farmstead Foods, Farmland Foods, Hormel, as a postal carrier in Albert Lea, and his own contracting business. Jon was a volunteer fireman and EMT in Ellendale. For the past ten years, he had worked at Viracon, Inc. in Owatonna.
Jon enjoyed all the arts: painting, drawing, ceramics, silver and goldsmithing, and wood carving (whittling). Jon was a Boy Scout Scout Master for a number of years. Jon played the trombone in high school and continued to play during his college years. The trombone brought him much joy ? continuing to play in the Ellendale Community Band, the brass choir at the 1St Lutheran Church in Ellendale, the Albert Lea Community Band, the Henry Charles Swing Band in Austin, the Austin Jazz Band, the Blooming Prairie Community Band, and the Klecker Family Band.
Jon enjoyed gardening and flowers. He would always bring in bouquets of flowers from whatever the season.
Jon is survived by his mother, Phyllis Aronson, two brothers, Paul and Ross Aronson of Ellendale, and three sisters, Carla Scripture of Motley, Linda and Ann Aronson of Roseville, an uncle, Leo Wentland of Holdingford, and many nieces and nephews.
Jon was preceded in death by his father, Joyce Aronson, grandparents Carl and Hannah Aronson and George W. and Alta (Prouty) Gardner, two uncles, Chester and George A. Gardner, and an aunt Doris (Gardner) Wentland.
