John David Peterson went home to be with the Lord on December 3, 2014 at the age of 84. He was born on February 20, 1930 in Joliet, Illinois to David Lambert and Edith Darlene Peterson. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Hazel Elaine Peterson. He is also survived by sons David (Sherrie), Greg (Debbie), and Kevin (Joan) and his daughter Kathleen Cameron (James). He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. John (Jack) demonstrated a great love for his wife, his children, his grandchildren, and his great grandchildren. That love was often manifested in his prayers and in the joy he exuded when surrounded by his family, in particular, the little ones.
Jack was active in his church from an early age, serving in various men's ministries and for a time, as a deacon. He worked as an off-set printing pressman for more than 40 years. He and Hazel made their home in Joliet, Illinois until 2007 when they moved to Clarks Grove, Minnesota to be near their daughter.
Jack was known to be a friend to every one he met. He enjoyed helping friends and family in many different ways, often involving the repair of something mechanical (automobiles, bicycles, lawn mowers, etc.). He was greatly loved and will be sorely missed by family and friends alike.
Jack went to his rest after a long and valiant battle with metastatic cancer. Throughout this more than 13 year battle, he maintained a positive perspective and even helped others who were suffering from cancer as well. Although often in pain, he seldom complained or drew attention to himself. He now knows no pain but rather pure joy before the Lord.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM Monday, December 8, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Clarks Grove with a visitation 1 hour before with family. Pastor Jamie Cameron will be officiating. Gifts & flowers can be sent in his memory to the First Baptist Church.
