John LeRoy King, 80 years old, formerly of Albert Lea, has passed away on August 24, 2018 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, AL. He has been living in Dothan with his wife and near his son and family for the past year.
Funeral services for John will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea. The Rev. John Mitchem will officiate. Burial will be in the Geneva Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 – 8 PM on Friday, as well as one hour prior to the service at Bonnerup Funeral Service.
John was born on March 3, 1938 the son of the late Lloyd and Selma King. On March 6, 1965, he was united in marriage to Nancy (Krough) in Mason City, Iowa. To this union, two children were born. John has been a member of the Albert Lea Eagles Club for many years and served as president two different times. He was also a member that helped establish the Blue Earth Chapter of the Eagles. His favorite hobby was wood working. He would make various items, and often donate them to charity benefits through the Eagles and other organizations.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Selma; a sister in infancy, Judy; and a brother, Curtis.
John is survived by his wife, Nancy, of Dothan, AL; sons, Jerry (Donna) King of Nashville, TN and Neal (Lisa) King of Dothan, AL; a sister, Viola King of Conger, MN; grandchildren, Ashley, Christopher, Zachary, Angie, Nathanael, Kayleigh; great-grandchildren, Harley, Christopher Jr., Olivia, Isabella, and another one on the way.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the family.
