Memorial services for John W Hill will be held at 11 A.M on Friday, May 17th, 2013 at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea. Visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Military honors by Albert Lea Veterans Groups.
John Hill passed away on Monday, May 13, 2013 at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne, MN. He was 82 Years old.
John was born on Oct 10, 1930 in Stanhope, IA The son of Kendall and Mary (Fardell) Hill. He graduated from Stanhope High School before enrolling United States Army where he served in the Korean War. On February 27, 1954 he was united in marriage to Marjorie R Fortune in Fort Dodge, IA. Together they raised three children. They moved throughout the Midwest, spending time in various cities in Iowa and Illinois, as well as California. They settled in Albert Lea for 18 years before moving to Minneapolis for 20 years, and in 2005, made their home in Elmore, MN.
John was an auto body mechanic for 60 years. He worked for various body shops including Minnesota Auto Body in Minneapolis. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed gardening, fishing, music and dancing with his wife at the American Legion and VFW Friday nights.
John is survived y his wife, Marjorie Hill of Elmore, MN; children Gayle Hill (special friend Carl Jackson) of Hartland MN, Steven (Lida) Hill of Woodbury, Janet Hill Of Albert Lea; friend of family Jay Vollmer.
Grandchildren, Nissa Nordland of St Louis Park, Ashley Hill of Minneapolis, Danika Hill of Woodbury. Phanith (Navy) Sam of lakeville, Chanlyna Sam of Florence, Alabama, Sydeth Sam of Woodbury and Aun Youvara of Phom Penh, Cambodia; 3 great grandchildren: Brother Donald Hill.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Marian Kendall Hill and Joan Ferguson.
