John Coffman

COFFMAN, JOHN Born: June 10, 1938 Died: February 5, 2011 When Abraham Lincoln said, "Whatever you are, be a good one," he had John Coffman in mind. A husband, son, father, brother, uncle, friend, realtor, patient or many of the other various lifetime capacities, he was most definitely a "good one." Heaven gained an angel on Saturday February 5, as John (72) joined his beloved wife LoRene. Born in Wichita (KS), in the Coffman Hospital, he moved around extensively in his younger years as the son of a Naval psychiatrist, including time at Coronado High School. He graduated from the University of Arizona and spent 22 years in the Navy as a Supply Corp Officer. He was also a Real Estate Broker for 27 years in the North County area. During this time he lived in Del Mar, CA with his wife, Rene (who predeceased him in 1993), and their children Todd and Jodi, for 42 years. He was an active member of his church, Calvary Lutheran, since 1969. He was also predeceased by his father Delphos Otto Coffman "Doc" (2000), and his mother Elizabeth Anne Coffman (1986). John is survived by his son, Todd of Miami, FL; and daughter Jodi of Costa Mesa, CA. He is also survived by his sister, Joy Orrik and her family of Alexandria VA; the Sponbergs (Renes family)including Darrol (Polly) Sponberg of New Richland, Adryn (Donna) Sponberg of Detroit Lakes, MN, and Jana Lee Sponberg of Alexandria, VA. Memorial services are scheduled for Saturday, May 28, at 10:30 A.M. at Vista Lutheran Church, rural New Richland. Pastor Paul Meierding will officiate. Interment will be in Vista Lutheran Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the New Richland Veteran's Organization.
