Remembering the life of James "Jim" D. Mildenstein...
The Funeral Service for James "Jim" D. Mildenstein of Albert Lea, will be held at
1:30 P.M. on Monday, January 17, 2005 at the First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Pastor John Holt will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Military Honors will be accorded by Albert Lea Veteran's Organizations.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. on Sunday at Bonnerup
Funeral Service, Albert Lea and one hour before the service at the church.
Jim died on Monday, January 10, 2005 at the Albert Lea Medical Center.
He was 66.
He was born on December 23, 1938, in Austin, Minnesota, the son of Floyd and
Emma ( Jicha ) Mildenstein.
His family lived on a farm near Lyle and he attended country school and high school until he turned 16 and joined the U.S. Airforce. He received his G.E.D. while in the service.
Jim served our country in both Korea and Vietnam. Jim was crew chief on B52, attaining the rank of Staff Sgt.
After receiving his honorable discharge he made his home in Albert Lea.
He returned to school and attended a diesel mechanic program at the
Albert Lea Technical School
He worked at Dave Syverson Ford until 1982, when his health would no longer allow.
Jim was united in marriage to Ida (Behrends) Petersen on December 31, 1976 at the
First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea.
He was a member of the V.F.W., the American Legion, the D.A.V., where he had
served as commander, the Eagle's and the Cooties.
He enjoyed spending time with his newly aquired family of step-children, grandchildren and great grandchildren for the past 28 years.
Jim is survived by his wife Ida, step-children: Helen and her husband John Newell of Fountain City, WI., Paula and her husband Darryl Juveland of Albert Lea,
Ronald Petersen of Austin, MN., Wanda and her husband Mike Wangsness of Albert Lea, Dennis Petersen of St. Paul; 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; sisters: Ruth Nelson of St. Paul, MN, Janet and her husband Robert Christensen of Hayfield, MN.
brother Steve Mildenstein of Rochester, MN., brother-in-law Warren Behrends of Albert Lea; sister-in-law Joan Darling and her friend Henry Nagel of CA., and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Tom, David, William, Larry and Robert , daughter-in-law Sarah Petersen and sisters-in-law Carol Mildenstein,
Almira Behrends, brother-in-law Robert Darling.
