Jackie “Jack” Woodside, loving husband, father, and friend, passed away on March 4, 2024, at Nelson Gables in Alexandria, MN. He was born on December 24, 1935, in Albert Lea, MN to Gary and Evelyn (Anderson) Woodside. He graduated from Albert Lea High school and went on to attend Mankato State University for a year before joining the Navy where he proudly served on the USS Bennington.
On May 23rd, 1959, Jack married the love of his life, Orlene Thompson, and together they raised three children: Paul, Ann, and Dan. Jack worked for Wilson's Foods in Albert Lea for an impressive span of 35 years. His commitment and work ethic left a lasting impact on all those around him. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and had a deep passion for baseball and basketball, which he pursued with immense enthusiasm throughout his life. His love for sports brought him joy and connected him with others who shared similar interests. One of Jack's proudest accomplishments was being elected to the Albert Lea High School Athletics Department Hall of Fame for basketball. This achievement is a testament to his skill and love for the sport.
In his personal life, Jackie was surrounded by loved ones who meant the world to him. He is survived by his beloved wife Orlene; children Paul (Roberta) Woodside, Ann (Gene) Arnold, Dan Woodside; five grandchildren Ben (Amanda) Woodside, Bryn (Quinn) Irey, Allison (Ryan) Kuhlman, Brooke Arnold, Luke (Jalen) Arnold; six great-grandchildren Genevieve Woodside, Declan Woodside, Rogen Kuhlman, Riggs Kuhlman, Royce Arnold, Isla Irey.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ron Woodside.
As family and friends gather to remember Jack, services will be held at Bonnerup Funeral & Cremation Services on March 7, 2024. The day will begin with the family accepting visitors from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. A graveside service will then take place at First Lutheran Cemetery in Ellendale following services.
