Jack Greengo

Jack Burton Greengo, of Boone, IA, died peacefully at Eastern Star Masonic Lodge, Tuesday, December 6, 2011. Born on September 30, 1931 in Glenville, MN, Jack spent the first 52 years of his life in Albert Lea, MN. He then moved to Boone, IA in 1983 where he has lived for the past 28 years. Jack spent many years of his life as the owner/operator of Green Lea Golf Course (which was built by his parents, Burton and Helen Greengo in the 1940's) located in Albert Lea, MN. After his move to Boone, IA he worked for the local school district as a bus driver which he loved. His accomplishments that he was most proud of were: fighting with the 1st Marine Division in Korea (honorably discharged) and proud father of his three daughters, (Jodi, Judi and Jeanie). A Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War his awards included Korean Service Medal with two stars, U.N. Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean P.U.C., and Good Conduct Medal. Jack is survived by his three daughters (listed above), five grandsons, Klinton, Bryce, Ashton, Houston and Ryker and one granddaughter, Autumn. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law K and John Adamec, as well as his special friend, Mary Frank, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Albert Lea, MN on Saturday, December 10th, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. Friends may visit with family an hour before the services at the church. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery with
military honors by Albert Lea Organizations.
