The funeral service for Ivy Johnson of New Richland MN will be held 2:00p.m. Sunday November 8, 2009 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran church. Interment will be in St. Peter Cemetery.



Ivy died Tuesday, November 3 2009 at the New Richland Care Center. She was 103 years old.



Ivy Marie Johnson was born October 4, 1906, in New Richland, MN to William and Mary (Dagan) Laudert. She graduated from New Richland High school in 1925 and was a member of the first New Richland girls basketball team. She also attended Normal training school and taught country school at district 24, Waseca County for 3 years

Ivy married Harlan Alexander Johnson on September 25, 1929 at her parents home in New Richland. They farmed NW of New Richland until retirement. She was a lifetime member of St. Peters Lutheran Church and was active in the WELCA and alter guild. Ivy loved to quilt. She made hundreds of quilts over the years for family and church quilters.



Ivy is survived by one daughter: Jeannette Jacobson of New Richland, foster son Elof Holmquist of Roseville, Mn; grandchildren: Jerome Munson and his wife Susana of Kerrville, Texas, Dewey Munson and his wife Geri of Freemont, Ohio, David Munson and his wife Jean of Prior Lake, MN, James Jacobson of Ellendale, MN, John Jacobson and his wife Ellen of Ellendale, MN, and Jodi Thompson and her husband Jim of Alexandria, MN; three foster grandchildren: David Holmquist and his wife LuAnn of Shoreview, MN, Mark Holmquist and his wife Cheryl of Hudson, WI and Patti Bennett of Lino Lakes, MN., also survived by 8 great grandchildren.



Ivy is preceded in death by her parents: Husband Harlan, a infant son: Harlan David; daughter Audrey Munson; son-sin-law: Chuck Munson and Helmer Jacobson; daughter- in-law Barb Holmquist; 2 brothers Adolph and Erwin; one great grandson Evan Jacobson.
