A memorial service for Iris Hunter will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 19, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Ellendale. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. The Reverend Randy Cirksena will officiate. An interment will take place at the Trempealeau Cemetery.
Iris passed away on October 15, 2015 at the New Richland Care Center. She was 85 years old.
Iris M. Hunter was born on October 31, 1929 to George and Petranella (Tabora) Grover, in Trempealeau, WI. She attended and graduated from Trempealeau High School in 1947. On July 30, 1949 she was united in marriage to Norm Hunter in Winona. To this union, three children were born. The family settled in Ellendale, and had lived there for more than 50 years.
Iris worked as accountant for Federated Insurance out of Owatonna until her retirement in 1989. She and Norm ran the Clarks Grove Golf Course for a couple of years. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling with Norm. The couple frequently went to Las Vegas, and enjoyed going on cruises. She liked to knit, read, and watch the Game Show Network on TV. In her younger years, Norm and Iris enjoyed to go dancing.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Norm; parents, George and Petranella; and a sister, Darlene.
She is survived by her children, Bruce (Betty Brim-Hunter) Hunter, of Des Moines, IA, Scott Hunter, of Ellendale, and Ellen (Kevin) Jordan, of Winchendon, MA; siblings, Richard (June) Grover, of Ravenna, MI and Karen (Tom) Wright, of Fort Wayne, IN; as well as many other loving relatives and friends.
