Irene Scott

Funeral services for Irene M. Scott will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Bonnerup Funeral Chapel, Albert Lea. Deacon Michael Ellis will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 PM on Monday, December 29, 2014 at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea. Interment will take place at Graceland Cemetery.
Irene passed away on December 27, 2014 at Thornecrest Retirement Center. She was 84 years old.
Irene was born on April 2, 1930 to Frank and Mary (Vleck) Donat, in Eden Prairie, MN. She cherished growing up on a farm with all of her brothers and sisters. She attended Eden Prairie High School, and later received her GED in Albert Lea. Irene worked as a Nurse's Aide at Thornecrest Retirement Center as well at St. John's Lutheran Home. She was also a mailer for Cedar Valley Services.
Irene was united in marriage to Walter D. Scott on May 1, 1955. The couple later divorced. Irene was blessed with six children. Irene has been a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church since 1979. In her early years, Irene enjoyed gardening and growing flowers and plants. She collected plates and other various dishes, as well as Angels. Irene was an animal lover, and had a special place in her heart for her cats. Irene will be remembered for her love and patience. Most of all, Irene loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Scott; and siblings, Ernest Donat, Emil Donat, Elizabeth Dewey, Dorothy Malmberg, and Virginia Torgerson.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Donald Scott, of Pine City, MN, Candy Phillips and special friend, Steven Cantrall, of Austin, Melody Webber, of Albert Lea, Kathleen (Alan) Dale, of Lakeville, MN, and Patrick Scott, of Albert Lea; grandchildren, Brandon, Justin, and Kylee Scott, Randy (Jessica) Phillips, Chelsea (Chad) Knudtson, Michele, Kristine and Matthew Webber, Brandi Dale, Alicia Dale and fiancé Peter Sylvestre, Dilon Scott, Samantha Scott; great-grandchildren, Shayelynn Christensen, Hayden Rae, Owen Walter Knudtson, and Luke Gawienowski; and a dear friend, Janie Trontvet, of Albert Lea.
