Helen Dohmeier

Funeral Services for Helen E. Dohmeier, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, August 26, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Pickerel Lake. The Reverend Katelyn Rakotoarivelo will officiate. Interment will be in Concordia Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church. Bonnerup Funeral Service is assisting the family.

Helen died on Sunday, August 18, at Hidden Creek-Good Samaritan Society, Albert Lea. She was 94.

Helen Elizabeth was born on December 6, 1924, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, the daughter of August and Elizabeth (Scherb) Richter. She graduated as Valedictorian of the Albert Lea High School class of 1943. Helen married Ernest H. Dohmeier on September 21, 1958, at Concordia Lutheran Church Pickerel Lake, and they made their home in Conger. Helen was an efficient bookkeeper, working for Richter Hardware and for Ernie for his business, Dohmeier TV. Helen enjoyed gardening, and will be remembered for her beautiful flowers, bountiful vegetables and her “famous” pickles. Throughout her life she was active at Concordia Lutheran, enjoying participating in WELCA and quilting. Together Helen and Ernie enjoyed some travel, fishing, winemaking, and family gatherings at the lake.

Helen is survived by her husband, Ernest Dohmeier; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Clemens Dohmeier, Evelyn (Jewell) Schock, Jerry Dohmeier, Gertrude Whitmire, Richard (Juanita) Dohmeier, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Herbert Richter and his wife Dorothea, Werner “Pat” Richter and his wife Ethel; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Elmer Wittmer, Paula and Alfred Sprenger, Geraldine Dohmeier, Grace Dohmeier, Harold Whitmire, Ervin and Loretta Dohmeier.
