Harry Christensen

June 23, 1934 — May 24, 2017

Harry Carl Christensen passed away at Thorne Crest Senior Living Community on May 24, 2017.

Harry was born June 23rd, 1934 to Harry Sr and Mabel Christensen. He grew up in Easton and attended school at the country school nearby until the 8th grade. Later that year, his father became ill and he had to take over the responsibilities of the farm. One night in Mapleton a young lady caught his eye and on April 18th, 1953, he married his wife Barbara. September of the next year the first of 7 children was born.

A hard worker all his life, he earned a living as a mechanic, farmer, and trucking. In between raising children, being a grandpa, and working, he spent 27 years on the Alden Fire department. When he could find the time, he enjoyed fishing and fixing just about anything that needed fixing-usually with duct tape or JB weld.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Barbara, son Roger (Kathy) Christensen, daughter Julie Rippentrop, daughter Wanda (Marlin) Attig, son Dennis (Mae) Christensen, daughter Marilyn Nelson, son Richard (Darcy) Christensen, and too many grandchildren and great grandchildren to name.
He is preceded in death by his son Harlan, granddaughter Trisha, brother Morton, sister Anna, his mother Mabel, and father Harry as well as many other loved ones.

A special thank you to the staff at Heartland Hospice who provided support during his last few months and Thorne Crest who gave him the care he needed for the last week when his family was no longer able to.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at Bonnerup Funeral home on Tuesday, May 30th. Visitation will be at 5pm with a short service beginning at 6pm. Cake, bars, and coffee to follow.
