Obituary for Harriet A. Billing
The funeral service for Harriet A. Billing will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, May 2, 2005 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Richland, MN. The Reverend Philip A. Lewison will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Sunday at Friedrich Funeral Home in New Richland and one hour before the service at the church.
Harriet died at her home in New Richland on Thursday, April 28, 2005. She was 76 years old.
Harriet was born in Steele County, MN on February 18, 1929, the daughter of Harry O. and Calmie (Hanson) Anderson. She was a 1947 graduate of New Richland High School.
On July 10, 1954 she was united in marriage with Robert Billing in Le Sueur River Lutheran Church.
Following high school, Harriet had worked with her brother, Clare, at the New Richland Co-op Creamery. She had also worked for Birds Eye Foods in Waseca, MN and Land O Lakes in New Richland. Harriet, along with her husband, Robert, owned and operated Billing's Grocery from 1968.
Harriet was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and had been a member of the Eagles and Moose. She lived life to the fullest and enjoyed old time music, and polka dancing.
Harriet is survived by three sons: Wayne (Jean) Billing of New Richland, MN, Bruce (Carlene) Billing of Bridgton, Maine, Daryl Billing of New Richland, MN; five grandchildren: Michelle, Nicole, Keith, Brian and Tricia; daughter-in-law, Barbara Billing of New Richland, MN; two brothers: Lester (Lucy) Anderson of Waseca, MN, Glen (Luella) Anderson of New Richland, MN; one sister, Jeannette Schaetzke of Janesville, MN; three sisters-in-law: Margie Weckwerth of Albert Lea, MN, Verdell (Dennis) Ludwitzki of Cannon Falls, MN, Loretta Anderson of Illinois; one brother-in-law, Mervin (Marlene) Billing of Bull Head City, AZ; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert in 1985; son, Gary in 2001; two brothers: Milan and Clare Anderson; one sister, Velma McMullen Fisher; special friend, Don Hagen.
