Harold Wangen

The funeral service for Harold Chester Wangen of Albert Lea, MN will be held at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel, Albert Lea. Pastor Dennis Frank will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Monday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded. Harold died Thursday, June 24, 2010 at his home. He was 86 years old. Harold Chester Wangen was born March 16, 1924, the son of Nels (Albert) and Martha (Nelson) Wangen in Manchester Township, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at the West Freeborn Lutheran Church and attended Country School District 21. Harold was a veteran of WWII and served in the United States Army in Rhineland Central Europe. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. . Harold married Maxine Seifert in Sioux Falls, S.D. on December 14, 1957. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at their cabin which they built together. He worked for Chicago Northwestern and M& STL and Union Pacific Railroads for 47 years. Harold is survived by his wife, Maxine; brother, Russell Wangen; brother-in-law, Bill Aanerud; sister-in-law, Laura Seifert; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; sisters and brothers-in-law: Helen (Gunderson) Aanerud and Art Gunderson, Marie and Alfred Kaufman, Dora and Henry Melander, Florence and Chester (Bud) Hansen; brothers and sisters-in-law: Nels and Irma Wangen, Arnold and Frieda Wangen, Elvin and Irene Wangen, Glenn and Lila Wangen, Viola Wangen and Floyd Wangen; nephews:  Marvin Wangen,  Duane Wangen, Gerald Wangen, Robert Gunderson and Ronald Melander; and Maxine's family:  parents: Herbert and Hazel; Lee and Tracy Seifert, Dale Seifert, Beatrice Hagen, Wayne and Doris Seifert.
